Saturday 02 May 2009
Updated: Tuesday 07 Apr
SATURDAY 2nd MAY 2009
At Meeting Rooms, Waseley Hills Country Park, Bham, B45 9AT.
Jim has trained and worked lurchers and sighthounds for over 30 years, his training methods are based on understanding how the dog views the world and he helps a number of local sighthound rescues with their difficult dogs. Come and listen to his methods then work with him and your dog in the afternoon.
Talk £12 per person. 10am to 12.30am inside (no dogs allowed sorry).
Practical Workshop £25 per person and dog. 1.30pm to 4.30pm. (In a secure area. No off lead work planned)
As Jim says on his website
Our aim is to promote a better understanding between you and your canine companion. We believe that often the problems we have with our dogs is a lack of communication. We talk human and expect our dogs to do the same. It is to the dog’s credit that we manage to communicate at all! Behavioural issues can often be the result of just not understanding why the dog acts the way it does. Understand why and you are half way to resolving the issue. Basic training is for understanding how a dog learns and will make the learning process fun for both trainer and dog
Training workshops: to deal with certain behaviours as required by participants: Recall problems, Lead aggression, Stock problems (sheep worrying, cats etc) Basic obedience.
Cheques or PO (payable to Perry Barr RGT) with an SAE please to Julie Sadler, 113 May Lane, Kings Heath, Bham, B14 4AQ. Please confirm what tickets you are ordering, places are limited.
There are a number of ‘auditor’ places available for the afternoon Workshop at £5 each, you will be able to watch as Jim works with the people and dogs. No dogs please if you are coming to watch.

wow, what a great day and we have learnt so much, now it's just a case of putting it to the test and to work at it so it becomes second nature, not so much for Rossi, he is doing it anyway, but for me to help him get the best of his life as a pet greyhound. thanks Julie for organising this and a very big thanks to Jim Greenwood for all his advice and a big hug and thank you for Robbie for coping with the kennels which gave Ruth the day to ferry us back and forward to the event, you are stars!!! Love Ina and Rossixxx

We had a fabulous day, thank you for organising such an informative and worthwhile event. We're looking forward to putting some of Jim's ideas into action. Taz & Tilly were exhausted when we got home, but come to think of it so were we!
Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
